JOHN F. SHINE
John Shine was born in Dublin, Ireland, and was raised in Chicago. He has practiced exclusively in the field of immigration law since 2005. His office is located in Brookfield, Illinois.
His practice focuses on deportation defense, family-based visas, waivers, deferred action for children and parents, U visas, VAWA, naturalization, and appeals. He was named a Super Lawyer and Rising Stars in Immigration by Super Lawyers Magazine. Since 2015, he has received the honor of Illinois Emerging Lawyer in the field of Immigration Law by Leading Lawyers Network.

John is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). He chaired AILA’s Department of Homeland Security Office of Chief Counsel (OCC) Liaison Committee from 2010 until 2012. He also served on AILA’s USCIS Chicago District Office Liaison Committee in 2012 and 2013.

John has worked pro bono with the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS), and has spoken at many seminars for attorneys and organizations. John speaks Spanish and has a large Hispanic clientele. While in law school, he completed an internship with the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Chief Counsel in Chicago.

John graduated cum laude from the University of Chicago with a degree in Philosophy in 2000 and received his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2005.
